Waterworks Marsh View Trail

57 Acre Conservation Easement (publicly accessible during daylight hours) Enjoy a short walk on this .25 mile trail off of Rifle Range Road.

Located behind the Mount Pleasant Waterworks Operation Center, 1619 Rifle Range Road. Parking is available on the road between the MPW Operation Center and the Joe Gawrych Baseball Complex. Turn off of Rifle Range Road onto Fred McKay Way and follow the signs for the Dog Park and Marsh View Trail.

This property contains uplands, salt marsh, a hammock island and a paved walking trail that winds through the interior portion of the property and terminates in the vicinity of the mean high water mark of the salt flat. Public access is available to this serene natural location thanks to the Mount Pleasant Waterworks Commission.

Oakland Plantation

132.6 Acre Conservation Easement

Located off of Porchers Bluff road between Hwy. 17 and Rifle Range Rd.

This easement contains pine/mixed hardwood forest, forested wetlands, maritime forest, brackish marsh, salt flat, shrubby and herbaceous woodland borders.

The Nature Trail at the KOA Campground on Oakland Plantation is an amenity of the campground and not open to the general public.  However, it can be available for local school groups and other organizations with pre-approval.  The 1.5 mile walk on the interpretive trail includes a pamphlet that identifies plants, trees, and unique objects.  Any interested group should contact the KOA office at 843-849-5177 to schedule a visit.
