Butterfly Fling
April 29th from 3 to 5 pmMore than 100 people came to the Marsh View Trail to celebrate the opening of a new Butterfly Garden, a partnership between several local entities and the Mount Pleasant Land Conservancy. The event featured a book-signing by local bestselling author Mary Alice Monroe who had just released the paperback version of "The Butterfly's Daughter". Students from Whitesides Elementary School Student Council sold lemonade, King of Pops and Roti Rolls were on site selling treats, and a plant sale took place. Local butterfly expert Linda Love (a.k.a. "Nana Butterfly"), and landscape architect Katy Wood, who designed the garden, were present to answer questions. Race & Roast
February 26th from 12:30 to 4 pmThe 2012 Race & Roast was a huge success. More than 300 people participated in the inaugural 5K Trail Run and well over 450 people attended the Oyster Roast. The event was held at Oakland Plantation, one of the properties protected by the Mount Pleasant Land Conservancy via a conservation easement. A special thank-you to our title sponsor eGroup, as well as Palmetto Brewing Company, Mt Pleasant KOA, Whole Foods Market, the Backpacker, TrySports, Charleston Outdoor Catering, Southern Charm, and Town of Mount Pleasant.

EcoSpiel III
December 13th from 5:30 to 7 pmFor the December EcoSpiel, we converged on Triangle Char & Bar in Mount Pleasant. EcoSpiel gatherings bring together like-minded community members interested in organizing their thoughts and efforts when it comes to protecting our local environment and ensuring future generations will be able to enjoy the same quality of life each of us experiences today. Attendees can hear from local individuals, groups, and businesses focused on a sustainable future for this region.
2nd Annual Paddle 'n Party on Shem Creek
October 16th from 3 to 7 pm
This was a great day with many exciting events. During the morning, Nature Adventures Outfitters generously donated three guided-kayak tours of Charleston Harbor and Shem Creek. From 3 to 7 pm was the Paddle 'n Party at the Lighthouse on the Creek (next to Red's Ice House). Henry's Attic performed live during the event while attendees enjoyed BBQ, Local Brews, Wine, and a Silent Auction. Many people also took advantage of the 1-hour Harbor Cruises aboard the Palmetto Breeze.
A primary feature of the event was the "Golden Nugget" 5K Stand Up Paddleboard Race sponsored by Halfmoon Outfitters. The finish line was located on Shem Creek adjacent to the Lighthouse on the Creek.
EcoSpiel II
April 6th from 5:30 to 7 pmThe April EcoSpiel was held at Bambu Asian Bistro in Mount Pleasant. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres were served and happy hour drink specials were available. EcoSpiel II offered an opportunity to network with like-minded community members, to sign up for the upcoming “Green Up Day”, and to hear from local groups and businesses focused on a sustainable future for this region.

Treetopia Pickup Party
June 30th from 5 to 7 pmWe held a tree sale in June 2010 to allow community members to purchase a tree to be planted on Bull Island.
Shipyard Shindig: Heart of Oak Benefit
May 22nd from 11 am to 4 pmThe Heart of Oak Benefit "Shipyard Shindig" was a joint fundraiser between the SC Maritime Foundation and the Mount Pleasant Land Conservancy. It was held May 22, 2010 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Hobcaw Shipyard, a National Register of Historic Places property. The free festival was the first time the tall ship Spirit of South Carolina was open to the public in Mount Pleasant. There was also live music, food and beverages, maritime historians, children's activities, a tree sale, and complimentary boat rides along the scenic Wando River.
The music lineup included: Corey Webb's Symphony for the Fun of It, Miriam Allen and the Passionistas, Danielle Howle and John Lee, Whisper Jets, and Rev Palmer and the Messengers of Hope.
EcoSpiel I
February 27th from 5:30 to 7 pmThe event was a huge success thanks to Water's Edge Restaurant and the more than 50 attendees at MPLC's first EcoSpiel gathering. All sorts of wonderful folks came to discuss the preservation of East Cooper’s natural character through land conservation and other sustainable living measures. This was an opportunity to network with like-minded community members and to hear brief presentations from local groups and businesses focused on the future of the natural environment in East Cooper. We heard from the SEWEE Association, Green Roof Outfitters, DwellSmart, SC Green Fair, and the Sustainable Warehouse.
2009
Park Day on Daniel Island
October 10th from 11 am to 5 pmThe Mount Pleasant Land Conservancy was selected to participate as one of the non-profit organizations to benefit from the proceeds of the event. This fall tradition on Daniel Island was filled with entertainment and activities for kids and adults. Lots of families came by our tent to try the High Tide Tilt game and won some of our cool promotional items.

Mount Pleasant Farmer's Market
October 6th from 4 pm until dark We had a tent at the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market on Coleman Boulevard from 4 pm until dark. Thanks to all who came by and visited us to find out more about the many ways they could support land preservation in this community.
Charleston Green Fair
September 27th from 12 to 6 pmWe had a booth in the Non-Profit Tent at the Charleston Green Fair in Marion Square Park at King Street and Calhoun Street in Downtown Charleston from 12pm-6pm. We displayed our new name and gave away t-shirts, koozies and stickers!
