“GIVE,
GET & GO” CHALLENGE FOR NEW MARSH VIEW TRAIL
The Mount Pleasant Land Conservancy is encouraging the
community to get out and enjoy some trail time by hosting free guided nature
hikes on the new Marsh View Trail every Saturday in April.
As part of the MPLC’s “Give, Get & Go” Challenge this
spring, the non-profit land trust is working to raise awareness for the value
of land preservation in this region by teaming up with several local
naturalists who will share their knowledge and expertise on various topics,
including; wildlife habitat, horticulture and bird watching.Each Saturday the public is invited to
explore another exciting feature found in this serene natural environment.
The first guided walk will be held on Saturday, April 3rd
at 9:00am.Discover more about this

This first hike will last approximately 45 minutes and take
place at 9:00am on Saturday, April 3rd, rain or shine.Anyone interested in participating should
call the MPLC office at (843) 884-1060 to sign up for this free activity.Donations to the MPLC are welcomed.Participants will meet at the trail head located
off of Fred McKay Way between the Mount Pleasant Waterworks Operations Center and
the Joe Gawrych Baseball Complex at 1619 Rifle Range Road in Mount Pleasant.
The “Give, Get & Go” Challenge is a campaign to raise
$25,000 this spring in order to ensure the permanent protection of this new
Marsh View Trail.Community members are
being encouraged to Give a contribution of $10, Get a lifetime of enjoyment by
guaranteeing the MPLC’s ability to monitor and protect the Marsh View Trail
forever and Go outside and enjoy at least 10 minutes in nature everyday.
The new Marsh View Trail opened to the public in February of
this year, thanks to the voluntary placement of a conservation easement on the
property by the Mount Pleasant Waterworks Commission.The predominantly paved trail winds across 6.5
acres of the high ground portion of this 57 acre conservation easement that
sits on the back portion of the Mount Pleasant Waterworks Operations Center on
Rifle Range Road.The pine and oak lined
trail winds for less than a quarter mile through the preserved area and opens
up to an unobstructed and scenic marsh view.
